Frinton & Walton Under 8’s 2 Wivenhoe Youth Under 8’s Blues 2

A very lively start from Wivenhoe saw then score with their first attack before a Frinton player had managed a touch on the ball.  The away team's lead was doubled mid-way through the half following a strong counter attack overwhelming the Frinton defence.  The home team then started to settle and pulled a goal back following a good interchange of play down the right-hand side between Jake Adams and Dominic Binns, the scorer.

Wivenhoe continued to attack in numbers during the second half with some excellent defending by Jenson Underwood and keeper Matthew Brayshaw (plus the posts) denying them a third goal.  In the last moments of the game striker William Thorpe led a Frinton attack and equalised, giving a well-deserved draw. Captain Owen Lewis was awarded Player of the Week.

A good start by Frinton saw them two goals up in the first ten minutes with good passing from midfield through to striker Elliot Wreford who put away both chances.  Wivenhoe fought back well, pulling a goal back to give a half time score of 2-1, and then continued to attack after the break, scoring twice in quick succession to go ahead. 

Both teams battled hard in the second half, keeping good possession.  The final kick of the game saw a Frinton free-kick from just outside of the penalty box which Wreford put superbly into the top corner of the goal, giving the final result a well earned draw.  Player of the Week was captain Taylor Mason.
