Match Reports
Halstead Town Under 15s 1 Frinton and Walton Under 15 Blues 1
Frinton continued their
recent unbeaten run in the league but this was a game they should have won.
Despite surviving a missed penalty the defence played well and restricted
Halstead to very few clear-cut chances. Frinton took the lead halfway through
the second half when Jamie Baldwin steered in a cross at the near post. That
looked like being enough but the Blues were made to pay for their missed chances
when Halstead equalised near the end during a goalmouth scramble. There was till
time for Frinton to hit the post and pull a good save out of the Halstead keeper
but it wasn’t to be and a hard fought game ended with honours even.

Frinton’s form has been
getting better week on week and they hit new heights with this win against a
team with a 100% record in the league. Things started badly when Hurricane took
the lead after a slick move and a good finish. However the Blues hit back soon
after when a Richard Morrison long throw was flicked on and expertly finished by
Tyler Griffin first goal for the club. From then on they grew in confidence and
started to create chances. In the second half Hurricane enjoyed more possession
but Frinton continued to create the better chances and they were rewarded when
Rhys Townsend superbly volleyed home in the last fifteen minutes. The Frinton
defence, which had been superb throughout, held on despite some heavy Hurricane
pressure. A special mention should be made of stand-in goalkeeper Hugh Durrant
who’s handling was excellent at all times.

After a long
break from action the Blues returned with perhaps their best performance of the
season against a team who had already beaten them twice this season. The first
half was goal less with both defences coming out on top. At the start of the
second half Frinton showed their attacking intent and they started to create the
better chances, one of which came off the inside of the post. As the match moved
into the last quarter Frinton were still finding it difficult to get past the
resolute Little Oakley defence so it was a great relief when a long range shot
from Rhys Townsend somehow found its way into the net. Other chances were
created and missed before Sam Dunwell finally got the decisive second with a few
minutes remaining.

Defences dominated in the
first half and half time arrived with the game scoreless. Soon after the restart
Frinton top-scorer Sam Dunwell finished with a long distance shot into the
corner of the net and soon after Rhys Townsend scored from close range to
increase the Blues advantage. The result seemed secure when Dunwell scored his
second and Frinton’s third, but Earls Colne replied soon after and started to
exert pressure on the Frinton defence. Sam Dunwell’s hat trick goal settled the
nerves and the game finished without further incident.

Colchester Villa 1 Frinton & Walton U14 Blues 2
Frinton started their league campaign with a hard fought win.
They went behind in the first half to an unfortunate own goal.
They piled the pressure on in the second half but it looked
like Villa would hold out until two late strikes in the last five minutes - one
by man-of-the-match Jordan Brazitis and one by Calvin Warwick.
