Match Reports

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 5 Gt Bradfords Under 10’s 0 – End of Season Trophy

Frinton’s last home match was a comfortable affair. On a heavy pitch Frinton handled the match better than Bradfords did and took the lead when Bradley scored direct from a corner. Frinton were playing some good football and winning their tackles. Some good work from Daniel provided the second goal for Frinton, as he collected the ball on the halfway line took on the whole defence before laying the ball off to Harry Bass who slotted home to make it 2-0. Just before the break Frinton had a free kick just outside Bradford’s area and Bradley score his second of the day when the ball rebounded off the wall back into his path and he hit a lovely left foot shoot into the corner of the net for 3-0 at half time. In the second half Frinton looked hungry to add more goals to their tally and it wasn’t long before goal number four came along, this coming from a long range shot from Daniel. Another good move down the left involving Ben and Daniel provided Bradley a chance to score his hat trick and with a great piece of ball skill he fired home Frinton’s fifth and his third to round of a fine display from the whole team. Well done lads

Man of the Match - Bradley for a great hat trick.

Colchester Villa Under 10s 6 Frinton & Walton Under 10s 0

Frinton had a day to forget, after going 1-0 down in less than a minute and never recovered from this. Frinton lacked composure on the ball and gave it away on many occasions. The only plus side was the saves Billy made to keep the score down to 1-0 at HT. In the second half Frinton were second best all over the pitch, Villa scored goals on 22 & 23 minutes and then made it 4-0 before the half-hour. Villa scored 2 more in the last five minutes to complete the rout, which they fully deserved. This was a very disappointing display from a team who usually gives a lot more heart and soul in their performance.

Man of the Match - Billy - kept Villa out on several occasions.

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1 Clare Town Lions Under 10’s 1

Frinton can count themselves unlucky in this match, having most of the play and scoring both goals it should have been our first win in the End of Season Cup. Frinton put in their usual work rate but fell behind from a corner, which resulted in an own goal (7). This seems like the luck Frinton have had in several games this season. Frinton did not let this distract them and we created some descent chances with Kyle going closest when his shot hit their ‘keeper’s shins and went off for a corner. In the second half, Frinton continued where they had left off and equalised with a brilliant finish from Daniel from just outside the area (26). The only time Clare threatened Frinton’s goal, Billy pulled off a super diving save to his right. Frinton looked like they would take the lead but we just could not put the ball in the back of the net. FT 1-1. Unlucky lads not to win.

Man of the Match - Daniel all around display and great goal.

Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1 Reed Hall Sentinels Under 10’s 2 (End of Season Trophy)

Frinton did not deserve to lose this one, we were in control for most of the game, but we just cant seem to hit the back of the net enough. Frinton played some good football, a joy to watch from the sidelines. but it seemed like a kick in the teeth when Reed Hall took the lead 1-0 (10) with a soft goal. In the second half Frinton kept up their immense effort with Dan, Kyle and Dylan in midfield, Max and James in defence. Frinton got their reward when Daniel fired in from the penalty spot to make it 1-1 (33). It looked like Frinton could go on and win this match only for Reed Hall to snatch it away from us with an unlikely win. Very unlucky lads

Man of the Match – Max, in total control at the heart of defence

Colin

Mark’s Tey Under 10’s 3 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 2 (End of Season Trophy)

Frinton don’t seem to get the rub of the green in most games, even with the clocks going forwards it had to be someone from Frinton and not our opponents to forget, and then Max felt unwell and had to travel home. Having only seven players and one on the way Frinton did very well and went in at the break 1-1 with Harry Bass netting for Frinton. In the second half Frinton looked a bit tired from their endeavours in Saturday’s game. Marks Tey took advantage taking a 3-1 lead with ten minutes to play, but full credit to the lads they never gave up and we were awarded a penalty which Bradley made no mistake from to make it 3-2 (36) with time running out. Frinton had several chances to equalise with Harry and Dylan going closest. This was not to be but I was well pleased with your efforts lads.

Man of the Match – James

Friendly 24th March at Rush Green Bowl

Firstly a big thank you to Aaron and his team for arranging this friendly, he asked me for a game of eleven-a-side and it to be played at FC Clacton stadium. This was a great experience for the Frinton players and they gave a good account for themselves. The match was played in good spirit from both sides on a hot Saturday morning. With a few players out injured, I asked for Charlie and Brady from the Under 9's to help out, George and jJck who are associate players also came along. The result didn’t really count as we played three twenty-minute sections (halves). Our goal came from Charlie who neatly tucked the ball home to equalise; the winning goal came from a penalty.

Excellent performance lads. Colin

Stour Bay Vipers Under 10’s 0 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0

Frinton’s last league match was away to third place Stour who needed a win to catch up with leaders Bentley but Frinton gave an immense performance from start to finish, with every player giving 110%. As it was our last league game I decided to play all the players in positions they are not used to, except for Billy in goal. Our defence Kyle and Daniel looked like they had played there all season, Brad and James took on strikers roles, both working hard to keep Stour at bay. Max, Ben, Harry and Ollie took up the midfield positions working tirelessly against a strong Stour side. We had a few scares in both halves but with Billy on top form there was no way past him. This was a performance to make your parents and myself very proud. Very well played lads

Man of the Match - each and every one of you.

Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 10's 0 Elmden Rovers Under 10's 1

Frinton can count themselves unlucky not to get anything out of this match, a much improved and full of energy performance from last week game. The first half was even with both sides cancelling each other out, but in the second half Frinton turned up the heat and almost took the lead with a cracking shot from Dylan, only for Elmden's keeper to pull off a superb save. From the resulting corner Harry fired just wide and Billy was called in to make a finger tip save from a cross shot. The only time Frinton turned off in the match cost us dearly, a throw in for Elmden in our corner was flicked on and crept in by our near post (27). The lads never gave up and were awarded a penalty with two minutes to go. Brad stepped up to take it, but managed to hit the post. Unlucky lads. Colin

Man of the Match Max - a fine full debut

Frinton & Walton Under 10's 0 Rowhedge Juniors Under 10's 3

Only one team wanted to win this match, unfortunately it wasn't Frinton. We made mistakes all over the pitch and Rowhedge took advantage of this with their two first half goals coming from players not being marked up. Second half Frinton put in a much better performance but could do nothing with their third goal - a defected shot that put the game out of reach.

Elmden Rovers Under 10’s 0 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1

Frinton shuffled the pack for this game with players missing through illness. The lads carried on their hard work from last weeks second half performance and were on top for long spells, Dan, Kyle and Ben were up and down the pitch and Oliver caused the Elmden defenders loads of bother all game. Brad was unlucky with a free kick and a couple of long range shoots. Frinton’s goal came from a long clearance that looked to be going straight to Elmden’s defence but for Oliver and Dan putting heaps of pressure on them. This paid off for Dan when he finished from an acute angle (35) to give Frinton the lead they deserved 1-0. Frinton’s team spirit got them the result and they could have won by more, but our trouble this season is taking the chances we create, this will come, so well played lads

Man of the match - Ben- covered every blade of grass on the pitch

Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1 Holland FC Under 10’s Yellows 7

Frinton welcomed Holland and a couple of ex players back to TTC. A below par performance in the first half saw Frinton 6-1 down at halftime, the only plus point was seeing Oliver scoring his first goal for the club and a well taken goal it was. Second half Frinton competed much better all over the pitch only conceding very late on. There were a couple of plus points for myself, one was the Frinton boys heads did not drop all game and the other was seeing the return of one ex player playing in defence for Holland, one of the reasons he left Frinton.

Good spirit all round. Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0 Great Bentley Under 10’s 4

The last time Frinton played Bentley it was 5-0 to them, so with Bentley sitting on top off the league we did much better, putting in a much better shift. Carrying on from last week the players who enjoy their football, come win lose or draw, got stuck in to a very good side. Brad and James linked up well in defence & Ben was full of energy up and down the pitch. Bentley took a 2-0 HT lead through 2 good goals.

In the second half Billy made a couple of good saves, but could do nothing about Bentley’s other goals. Frinton introduced Harry and Oliver for their debuts and both did well. Frinton kept going to the final whistle, which was pleasing to see. Well-done lads, Colin

Man of the Match – Bradley, for solid defending.

Clacton United Under 10’s 3 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0

Frinton had to shuffle the pack for this match, with another player leaving the club. The score line was a bit harsh on the lads, who put in a tremendous amount of work and were unlucky not to take the lead when Daniel had a good effort saved. Clacton took advantage when Frinton failed to clear 1- (11) HT. The second half was an even encounter, good work in defence by Harry Bass and Kyle, Ben, Dylan, Brad and Daniel causing Clacton to defend deeper. Frinton almost equalised when Kyle went on a decent run only to narrowly miss. Two late goals (37 & 39) for Clacton made the score look like a comfortable win but this was not the case.

Excellent commitment boys, Colin. Man of the Match - Harry

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 2 Colchester Villa Under 10’s 0

Villa started more brightly than Frinton and were awarded a penalty in the second minute, but a superb save by Billy kept the score 0-0 and what a save it was! This was a close first half but Frinton took the lead after Daniel had his shot saved only for Miles to follow up and smash the ball in off the underside of the bar (19) HT 1-0

In the second half Frinton took control when Ben was sent racing past Villa’s last defender and smashing the ball home 2-1 (23). Moments later Ben had another chance blocked by their keeper. With Frinton threatening every time we got forward, we were unlucky when Brad hit the bar and the ball bounced out to Miles who also hit the bar. FT 2-0

Well done lads - Man of the Match Billy - blinding penalty save.

FC Clacton Under 10’s 1 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0

This match was decided in the second minute with Clacton scoring the only goal of the game. Frinton did get the ball in the back of the net only for the ref to judge Dylan had used his arm and disallowed the goal. In the second half Frinton had two good cases for penalties with one being a blatant handball and the other in the last minute a foul on Ben inside their box was waved on. A good match between both sides.

Man of the Match Brad for solid defending

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1 Brightlingsea Regents Under 10’s Blues 3 (League Cup 3rd Round)

The first match off 2012 was a tricky cup match against a decent Brightlingsea Blue side. They came, at us from the kick off and took a deserved lead (4). Frinton didn’t really get going in the first half and at the break were 3-0 down. The second half was a much better performance all round with Frinton winning tackles and playing some good stuff. This lead to Frinton getting back in the match - it started with Billy in goal finding Brad, who passed to Harry who kept the balling moving down the wing to Daniel, he ran down the wing crossed and Miles at the second attempt made it 3-1 (29) with the goal off the season. Frinton kept the pressure up and were unlucky on a couple of occasions not to make it a great come back.

Well played lads - Man of the Match was Miles

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1 Harwich & Parkeston Under 10’s 0

This was an excellent performance against a side that hasn’t lost a match in the league. It was a tough challenge against a very aggressive Harwich side, who seemed more interested in kicking Frinton’s players or being verbally abusive and swearing at the players and the referee. Frinton made a few positional changes from the week before and this seemed to steady the side, with Miles taking up the centre midfield position he relished the challenge ahead of him, putting in an outstanding performance until he was cruelly taken out by a horrendous challenge from a Harwich defender. Miles had the first meaningful chance with a decent left foot shot. At the other end Billy was in fine form making a blinding save. Max and Brad partnered up in defence and never put a foot wrong all game. HT 0-0

Second half Frinton took hold of the game and took the lead when Miles chipped the ball over the advancing keeper (26) to put Frinton 1-0 up. This only made a very aggressive side worse, and Harwich were trying to kick pieces out of Frinton’s players, especially Miles. A bad tempered Harwich manager made matters worse by telling her players to be more aggressive. This is when Miles got kicked in the stomach and had to leave not only the pitch but also had to be taken away to be checked on. Frinton should of won by more, when Daniel was through but narrowly missed. This was a good result for us and an outstanding display from all the lads. Man of the match – Miles - too hot to handle until he was savagely taken out of the game.

Colin

Holland FC U10 Yellows 4 Frinton & Walton U10 1

Frinton had a shocker! The only highlight was a decent goal from Daniel. We looked like a team who had never played together, and it showed against a poor Holland side. Frinton’s last 2 games we put loads of hard work in, but this was very poor, with not one player putting a challenge in all game and this showed when Holland had an half time lead 3-1. Second half did not get any better for Frinton & they made it 4-1 with another easy goal.

I was very disappointed lads because I know you can do better.

Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 2 Oyster Youth Under 10’s 2 (Frinton won 4-3 on penalties)

Round two of the cup and Frinton drew Oyster for the second year running. Both sides started well, Oyster had the first attempt on goal and could have taken an early lead, but for Billy making an excellent save. They did go in front after 7 minutes but this only kick started Frinton into battling for every ball. This paid off on 15 minutes when Miles fired Frinton’s equaliser. Moments later brad had an effort well saved and then just before the break Max hit a long range shot just over HT 1-1. Second half kicked off and Dylan nearly put Frinton into the lead in the first 30 seconds only to be denied again by their work rate. Frinton kept Oyster in their own half and were creating decent chances, Max again hit a shot that was well saved, but from the resulting corner a bit of confusion from a short corner set piece gave oyster possession and they ran the length of the pitch to take a 2-1 lead (27) against the run of play. Frinton didn’t let this affect their game, we continued to pressure their goal and got our reward when Dylan set up miles to equalise (37). 2-2 is how it ended. The match was then to be decided on a penalty shoot out. Frinton won the toss and choose to shoot first, but after all five penalties were taken it was 3-3, with billy making two great saves. It went into sudden death, up stepped James to give Frinton the advantage, all eyes were on Billy now and fingers crossed! Up stepped the Oyster player, and Billy became Frinton’s hero with his third penalty save down to his right. The lads had wild celebrations and boy did they deserve it.

Well done all of you.

Man of the Match Billy - Great handling and super penalty saves.

Rowhedge Juniors Under 10’s 1 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 1

Playing during school half term Frinton had a few players missing and with one also quitting, it left the side needing to be reshuffled. Kyle came into defence and played very well with Bradley beside him. Dylan started up front and gave Rowhedge defenders a hard time for the majority of the game before being replaced by Ben who did likewise. It took the lads a while to settle into their new positions and Rowhedge took an early lead (2) with a shot that went through a crowded penalty area. Frinton were playing down hill in the first half on a tricky pitch but Bradley had a descent shot that just sailed wide, then Max had cracking shot just over the bar. Frinton had plenty of energy all over the pitch, winning tackles and making some great clearances with their heads. A free kick was awarded to frinton just before the break, Max stepped up and went narrowly close over the bar. HT 1-0. Second half, playing uphill seemed to inspire the lads to keep their hard work going and Miles had a great effort saved, from the resulting corner Bradley again went close. Daniel was a menace down on the left putting pressure on Rowhedge every time he got the ball. Time was running out for Frinton having been on top of this match for long periods but our goal finally came with good work from Kyle - the ball was played into Rowhedge’s box and with a sweet strike into the back of the net Max equalised (40) for Frinton. In injury time I thought we had won it when Bradley hit a beauty only for a great save from their keeper to keep the scores level.

Well played all of you, for me all of you are man of the match

Colin

Great Bentley Under 10’s 5 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0

This was a disappointing performance from Frinton, we didn’t get going all game and Bentley were quicker to the ball all over the pitch than us. With all the passing we have been doing in recent games Frinton just couldn’t find their link up play. Bentley took control with 2 goals in a space of a minute (9,10) and then it was 3 -0 with a decent strike that Ben could not do anything about (16). It took Frinton until the stroke of half time to have our only good effort on goal by Charlie. HT 3-0. In the second half Frinton competed better for the ball but with Bentley scoring 2 more goals (32,38) this was a game to forget and let’s start fresh next week. Colin. Man of the match Harry - did some good work with the ball.

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0 Clacton United Under 10’s 3

Frinton played some great football in the first half but were unlucky in front of goal especially Miles who after only ten seconds found Clacton’s keeper in fine early form with a blinding save and moments later Miles also hit the foot of the post. Frinton’s all round play was excellent, with the pass and move we have been training on. Max, Daniel, Miles and Charlie were working extremely well as the advanced players and Miles again struck a post with good work in Clacton’s half. With Frinton playing so well and unlucky not to be 2 or 3 up Clacton took the lead against the run of play 1-0 (14), but still Frinton created chance after chance HT1-0. The second half got under way with Clacton having taken the lead they added number 2 (23) with a well taken goal. Still we pressured their goal with Miles again making Clacton’s keeper pull off a super save. From the resulting corner Max headed the ball and looked like it was going in only this time a defender cleared off the line. Clacton made it 3-0 (30) and this is how it stayed. On another day lads we will play not so well and win, so keep this up, I’m very proud for the performance by you all. Colin

Man of the match – Miles - on another day could of scored a hat full, superb!

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 8 Lawford Juniors Under 10’s 1 (LC R1)

Frinton played some of their best football so far this season with some great link up play between Charlie, Kyle, Max and Dylan, in the first ten minutes Charlie found Dylan with an inch perfect pass who hit a powerful shot only for Lawford’s keeper to save well Kyle hit a long range effort just wide then it was Bradley’s turn to narrowly miss. On a slippery pitch Billy's handling was superb when he was called upon. With Lawford’s goal coming under attack it was a surprise we hadn’t scored early in this game but their keeper was playing out off his skin. The first Frinton goal finally came when Harry was fouled in their area, up stepped Max to put us 1-0 (20) up at HT. Second half, Miles and Daniel came on for Kyle and Dylan, Frinton carried on their good work. Frinton went 2-0 up when Daniel hit a cracker from outside the box (25). Lawford then made it 2-1 (29) when we gifted them their goal with our only piece of sloppy play in the whole game.  Frinton then went goal crazy in the last ten minutes, first up Max converted his second penalty of the day (30) 3-1, straight from the kick off Frinton wrestled the ball from Lawford and the ball flying around their area Miles fired it home from close range(31). 4-1 Harry then had a shot which Charlie flicked out a leg to deflect his first of his 3 goals (33) 5-1, 1 minutes later Charlie got his second (34) 6-1. Frinton’s seventh goal came with flowing move between Miles and Charlie and there was Daniel to tap the ball home (37) 7-1. The goal of the game was Frinton’s last when Charlie collected a throw in, turned his defender and hit a peach of a shot into the top corner (38) FT 8-1

Keep this passing going lads it’s great to watch

Man of the Match Charlie - good forward play and a fine hat trick

Colin

Colchester Villa Under 10’s 1 Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 3

Travelling to Colchester on a hot Sunday afternoon in October turned out to be happy days for Frinton. We put heaps of pressure on Villa from the moment we kicked off, a quick break ended with Miles hitting Villa's post and Charlie’s follow up shot being well saved. We looked comfortable all over the pitch, with James and Brad in defence working well together Villa could not find a way through Frinton’s dominance. Charlie again had a great effort just wide and Miles went on a solo run only to put the ball narrowly wide. This seemed to be one of those days, especially when Villa were awarded a penalty right on the stroke of half-time which was converted to make it 1-0 against the run of play (HT) second half carried on the same way making chance after chance Frinton’s pressure finally paid off in the (25) minute when Villa’s keeper parried a shot that fell nicely to Kyle who equalized (1-1). Kyle was involved in Frinton taking the lead when he was fouled 20 yards out, up stepped Max to crack the ball home (31) into Villa’s top corner (2-1). Another chance went by for Charlie then in the 37th minute Frinton made sure of the 3 points with Miles hitting a post again but this time Daniel was their to poke the ball home 3-1. Good team work lads. Colin. Man of the match James.

Frinton & Walton Under 10’s 0 Stour Bay Vipers Under 10’s 2

Playing the champions of the East League from last season, this looked a very tough match for Frinton. We started brightly with our midfield (Daniel, Max and Miles) matching the opposition midfield in all departments. Brad, Harry and Billy made some good blocks to keep the score at 0-0, while Kyle and Dylan came on and got straight into action when Kyle fired a good effort, which narrowly went wide. This was an end to end first half, but then the first goal came when Vipers put together a great move and a neat finish (19) to make it 1-0. Frinton kept their heads up and never gave up the whole game. Half time 1-0.

For the second half, it was much the same with both sides both pushing to score next, but unfortunately for Frinton we got caught out on the break leaving only James at the back who could do nothing to stop the Vipers striker scoring (30) for 2-0. The score did not reflect the effort all the lads put into this match and it was a good test for them. Keep this effort up lads and the results will go our way. Man of the Match Kyle, for his energetic display.

Colin

Frinton & Walton U10 1 FC Clacton U10

Our first home game of the season was an end to end encounter with both teams forcing  the opposition keepers into making some good saves. The best chance for Frinton fell to Dylan whose shot on the turn just went over Clacton’s bar. HT 0-0. The second half started better for Clacton than for us and they took the lead on 21 minutes, which seemed to inspire them to put more pressure on. We could not keep hold of the ball and got punished in the 30th minute when we didn’t clear the ball away from our goal mouth and Clacton made it 2-0. Five minutes later it was 3-0 and Frinton only then put pressure on Clacton’s goal with Max firing just over. Charlie also had a decent effort, his back header just past their post and then Miles hit a cracker over their bar. Our pressure paid off in the last minute when Max cut in and onto his left foot to open his goal account with a fine finish to leave the final score 3-1.

Man of the Match was Miles

Colin

Harwich & Pakeston U10 4 Frinton& Walton U10 1

This was always going to be a difficult match for Frinton, having only six players registered in time and waiting for the others to be transferred over from the blue team. The lads started really well and had the first effort on goal when Charlie fired a good shot on target only for their ‘keeper to save at his feet. It was end-to-end stuff, with Harwich using their extra man to create lots of space all over the pitch but not being able to take the advantage. From two corners Frinton almost scored with Kyle going the closest and the scores remained 0-0 at half time. The second half got underway and with all the energy that Frinton had put into the first half the lads were soon tiring. Harwich took the lead (22) and then added number 2 in the 28th minute. Still Frinton carried on, with Brad and Max working their hearts out in defence, Miles doing his usual work up and down the length of the pitch and Billy’s handling was superb in goal. Frinton still pressed hard to get the goal they deserved but the referee had other ideas, and added seven and a half minutes extra time. Harwich went 3-0 up, then came the chance Frinton had been waiting for when Miles tucked away a good chance to make the score 3-1. Still we played on and Harwich scored again in stoppage time. 4-1 was the final score. Well played all six of you

Match Reports

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 1 Brightlingsea Regents Under 9 Blues 6

The last game of the season for the Blues and yet again players letting the team down by pulling out at the last minute. The five team regulars that have done everything they can to make every game this season (Billy, Kieran, Bradley H, Miles and Josh) gave their all for their side and I thank them for all their support and effort. It was a tricky start having only six players starting this match, with Billy coming out of goal and playing along side Bradley H at the back for his first outing on pitch and he played his heart out on a warm Sunday afternoon. Brightlingsea playing away at their home pitch took advantage racing into an early 3-0 lead. We then had a good spell with Josh and Miles working extremely hard up and down the pitch like they have done all season. The lads were tiring towards half time and Brightlingsea scored twice more just before half time 5-0. Second half we were restored to 7 aside when Kieran finally found where we were playing. He made an impact with some great solo runs and had the shot of the day from 20 yards only for their keeper to pull off a blinding save. Frinton kept going and got their just rewards when another shot was parried out only for Patrick to poke home. Brightlingsea made it 6-1 right on time. I would like to say how much I have enjoyed working with these lads, and with a few new players coming in to the side next season, we will be looking to improve our position. Man of the match - all of you, thank you all lads. Colin

Stanway Rovers Under 9 Blues 1 Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 1

Having to play a side that gave us a bit of a lesson on how to play football at this age, this was going to be tough again, but with only seven players available we got off to a flying start when Josh put us 1-0 up (2). We looked comfortable all over the pitch and went close on two occasions - one of them a good left foot shoot from Bradley H. just clearing their crossbar. Another good save from their ‘keeper kept the score at 1-0. In the second half Frinton carried on where they left off, Josh, Brad H, Kieran and Miles cutting out everything Stanway threw at us, and when they did have a chance Billy in goal was big, strong and clearing all that was aimed at him. Stanway having three subs kept freshening their side every five minutes or so but Frinton dug their heels in and looked like they had taken all three points. Time was up but some how the ref found nearly four minutes of extra time, this is when they finally got past the solid defence of Brad and Kieran to snatch a point. Man of the match Brad H for an outstanding defensive display. Well done to you all. Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 2 Colchester Athletic Under 9 Blues 1

Frinton started this game on fire, every player playing to their greatest ability. Having to play almost everyone in a different position they are used to, this was for me their best game this season, working well as a unit and getting the result they deserved. The opening goal came after 14 minutes when Josh broke into Colchester’s penalty box and fired a shot that defected into the back of the net 1-0. Colchester had few chances in the first half, but when they did good work from Bill and Josh kept out a shot, which had taken a wicked bounce. HT 1-0. Second half we took a 2-0 lead when Josh again ran at their defence and crossed to Miles to tap home and finish a great move (22).  Colchester closed the gap on 26 minutes with a neat finish but Frinton upped the work rate with Brad H playing the holding role in defence superbly well. Full time 2-1 and man of the match was Josh for his attacking and defensive display. Brilliant boys. Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 0 Stanway Rovers Under 9 Blues 4

It was another one of those days for the Frinton blues boys. Stanway Rovers taking their chances was much the difference between the two sides, and then having 3 subs to our none did help them as well. Stanway took the lead in the seventh minute but Frinton went close moments later when Josh had a good chance only for the Rovers keeper to make a great save. Miles was next to go close with Frinton playing some good football but at half time the score was 1-0. The second half got underway, Frinton switched off for the first five minutes and Rovers took full advantage by racing into a 3-0 lead. Frinton kept their heads up, man of the match Bradley Stock was having a great game in defence against a good attacking side. Josh again fired just wide, Kieran battled well in a new role to play in, and the rest of the team didn’t give up until the final whistle. Rovers made it 4-0 near the end.

Well done boys. Colin

Brightlingsea Regents Under 9 Blues 5 Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 1

Frinton started brightly against a good Brightlingsea side, making their keeper pull off a fine save and from the rebound Miles hit the post. Another move between Josh, Kieran and Miles resulted in Frinton hitting the post for a second time. Both sides were pressing for a goal and the home side opened the scoring (6) then made it 2-0 (11). Frinton went close on a couple of occasions before half time but just couldn’t find the back of the net. HT 2-0. Second half, Brightlingsea took control early on scoring twice in the first ten minutes to make it 4-0. Soon after their fourth Miles scored with a nice chip over their keeper, this was no more than Frinton deserved. We carried on with Brad H and Kieran firing shots just wide and man of the match Josh causing Brightlingsea problems all over the pitch. With time running out we still kept going for it., leaving gaps at the back and Brightlingsea scored in the last minute. 5-1 was the final score but this did not reflect Frinton’s performance especially in the second half.

Good work lads. Colin

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 2 Lawford Juniors Under 9 Blues 0

A home game at last and the lads kept their winning streak going with a hard fought match against a much-improved Lawford side. It was a game of few chances in the first half, Josh going close for Frinton and Billy's ball handling was excellent in goal. Half time 0-0.

Second half Lawford were playing some good stuff, but Frinton were defending everything they threw at us. The opening goal came for Frinton with a cross from the right and was headed into the back of the net by Bradley Stock (29) 1-0. We improved our work rate all over the pitch, Freddie and Bradley Stock at the back kept blocking out Lawford, Miles putting in his usual energetic performance and Bradley Harris working hard on the left. Time was running out when Brad H sent Josh clear only to be fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded.  Up stepped Kieran to smash the ball home in the last minute for 2-0

Keep it going lads. Colin

Bures United Under 9 Blues 1 Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 3

Having only six players available for this match we knew this was going to be tough. We started off really well with Josh going close early on. Bures used their extra player well, but with Tobian in fine form at the back, Bradley H clearing everything and Billy in goal making two brilliant saves, Frinton then started to look like they had the extra man. A great move down the right between Josh, Kieran and Miles resulted in the Bures keeper making a fine save. From the resulting corner the six lads of Frinton went 1-0 up when Tobian pounced on a clearance to smash the ball home (18). Bures then made it 1-1 on 19 minutes. With half time approaching Frinton were awarded a free kick twenty yards out and Bradley H stepped up and hit a peach of a shoot into the top corner to notch his first goal this season. Half time 2-1. We carried on the second half like the first, working our socks off. This was a superb game to watch with Frinton in control and on 34 minutes another corner from Kieran was cleared but hit Miles in his face to put Frinton deservedly 3-1 up. On the final whistle a big cheer from our supporters put a big smile on all the lads faces.

Men of the match were Billy, Tobian, Brad H, Miles, Kieran and Josh

Brilliant! Well done. Colin.

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 4 Oyster Youth Under 9’s 5

With a strong wind blowing this was going to be a game of two halves. Oyster won the toss and took the advantage by having the wind behind them. They used this by scoring four goals in the first ten minutes. We then dug in ourselves and scored through Miles to make it 4-1 at half time. The second half kicked off and it was all Frinton pressing the Oyster goal, Kieran hit the bar and their keeper pulled off a fine save from him as well.  On 29 minutes a corner from Bradley H caused havoc in Oyster’s box and Tobian took full advantage to pull a goal back. Straight from the kick off Oyster went and scored a blinder. Time was running out but we kept going with Bradley, Miles and Josh having shots going just wide. In the final couple of minutes Frinton pressure finally paid off when Josh hit a shot at goal and Tobian got on the end of it with a fine header. Josh then got himself on the score sheet to make it a nail biting finish and with seconds remaining Miles and Josh created a chance to equalise. The score finished 5-4 to Oyster in a entertaining game. Well played to all of you, my man of the match was Tobian.

Cornard Dynamos Under 9 Blues 5 Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 0

Frinton started slowly and went 1-0 down in the first minute of the match. Playing against the wind we started to up our game with Josh going close on two occasions. Cornard started to use the wind to their advantage scoring their second and but for Billy pulling off a great save from a free kick it could have got worse for Frinton. Half-time 2-0.

Second half started the same as the first with Cornard increasing their lead to 3-0 early on. We could not use the wind as well as they did and they scored their fourth and fifth goals with ease. We had a couple of shoots in the last five minutes but could not get past their goal keeper.

Lawford Juniors Under 9 Blues 2 Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 4

With 2 players missing (one being our keeper), Bradley Harris stood in for Billy and had a cracking game. A close match in the early stages, but Frinton soon got a firm hold of the game with Miles going closest with 2 good headers from fine work from Josh. These 2 were working well together and after 16 minutes, Miles put Frinton 1-0 up. This is how it remained until half time.

Both sides played some decent football at the start of the second half, Lawford made it 1-1 with a lucky bounce over Brad’s head but we took the lead again when Josh made a fine run down the line and finished off from an acute angle (30). Back came Lawford with another lucky goal that just crossed the line 2-2 (33). Going into the last 5 minutes it was all Frinton and we were rewarded with 2 fine goals from Miles to complete his hat trick and win a match that we controlled for the majority. Fred and Bradley Stock were excellent in defence for Frinton and for his display Bradley Stock was man of the match.

Well done all 7 of you.

Frinton & Walton Under 9 Blues 1 Sudbury Under 9 Blues 1

A very even game between the two sides, both sides playing well and defending even better. A Kieran Manning 20 yarder was the closest to opening the scoring but at halftime 0-0.

The second half got underway when we conceded a free kick which was converted into the top corner, straight from the kick off Frinton broke free and Josh scored the equaliser this is how it finished. A special thank you to Mark Seward who referred both games and provided some entertainment with a great slip over and recovery - 9 out 10

Stanway Villa Under 9's Blues 2 Frinton & Walton Under 9's Blues 1

Having beaten us earlier on in the season, we knew this was going to be a tough match to win. It didn't start well when after three minutes Frinton went one nil down but this only spurred us on and on 14 minutes a clever pass from Miles set Josh on his way to out pace Stanway's defence and put Frinton level with a clinical finish. With Frinton playing their best football of the season and well on top Josh was sent through again only for the ref to stop the game for an injury to one of the Villa players and a drop ball was then given. A simple pass back to our keeper Billy should have took place but Stanway contested the ball, won it and twenty second later scored. This made it 2-1 right on half time when we should have gone in level. The second half belonged to Frinton who created chance after chance, Kieran setting up Josh on three occasions, Miles having two one on ones with Villa's keeper. With their keeper playing out of his skin, we could not find a way past him. This was a fantastic match to be involved in, well played lads, good work, great effort and great team spirit.

Bures United Under 9’s Blues 0 Frinton & Walton Under 9’s Blues 1

With a early morning kick off and playing on a Saturday to help the Bures team out so they could attend their remembrance day march, we started brightly but came up against a very good defence and couldn’t find a way through. The first half passed with very few chances on either goal so there was no surprise when it was 0-0 at half time. In the second half Billy in goal was catching all Bures efforts and was looking to help towards a clean sheet. Frinton upped their game and slowly took control with Fred in command at the back and the midfield of Tom, Brad H and Tobian working hard, it was only going to be a matter of time until we scored. The goal finally came when a fine pass from defence found Josh Seward who took the ball in his stride beating his marker and slotting home what turned out to be the winning goal on 34 minutes. We have played a lot better than this and lost, but we are up and running now. Well done lads.

Frinton & Walton Under 9’s Blues 3 Cornard Dynamos Under 9’s Blues 5

Frinton got of to a flyer with a goal early on by Josh Seward. But with Frinton playing well, a quick break by Cornard levelled the game. Within seconds however, Josh put us 2-1 up with a tap in. Having only seven players and working hard for each other we couldn’t take some of the chances we were creating and we should have increased our lead. Unfortunately Cornard took their chances and made it 3-2 to them at HT. A slow start by Frinton gave them another early goal to make it 4-2, but man of the match Josh completed a tremendous hat trick to give Frinton a chance to complete a great comeback. Miles and Kieran had a couple of half chances but time was running out for the lads. We kept pressing but got caught out by a late goal to make it 5-3 to Cornard. Well played every one of you - a win will only be a matter of time for you if you keep playing like you have.

FC Holland Under 9’s Blues 4 Frinton & Walton Under 9's Blues 1

Having had a week off, we were looking forward to kick starting our season with a good performance away to Holland but weren’t helped by a very biased referee. The game started brightly with Frinton having 50/50 of the possession an it was end to end ‘till Holland scored their first and then made it 2-0 before halftime. The second half got underway and an early goal would have been nice, but it unfortunately went to Holland who made it 3-0. This only seemed to kick Frinton into life, when Frinton scored with a fine solo run from the halfway line beating two defenders and a neat finish in to the corner of the net by Josh Seward and easily the goal of day gave us some hope. But unluckily for Frinton, Holland got their fourth goal. This will be a match to remember for the wrong reasons with bad decisions and home spectators standing on the line of the pitch and bad language from the home team staff, this shouldn’t be how football is perceived to boys of any age.

Well played my lads.

Colchester Athletic Under 9’s Blues 2 Frinton & Walton Under 9’s Blues 0

With a strong wind blowing the game was going to be difficult for both sides. Frinton started with the wind behind them and went close on a few occasions, with Tommy Cooper going the closest with a header just wide, 0-0 at half time. Second half started much the same with Josh and Miles going close to breaking the deadlock. Kieran Manning standing in for Billy in goal Colchester opened the scoring with a thumping shoot just inside our area. We played some neat passing and were working hard against the wind but we could not find the back of the net. Colchester’s second came from a miss-hit cross which fell to their striker who tapped in for a 2-0 win. A special mention for Bradley Stock and Fred Parsons who are forming a good understanding in defence, both being the man of the match.

AFC Sudbury Under 9’s Blues 2 Frinton & Walton Under 9's Blues 0

The lads had an early start before their match with a 10 o'clock kick off away to Sudbury. We started the match brightly but did not get the rub of the green, on one occasion Kieran set Josh on his way clear, only for the ball to hit the back of his heel and go out of play. 0-0 at half time the Blues were playing some good football and with Bradley Stock in defence nothing got past him.

Second half got underway and it looked like who scored first would take the points, this went Sudbury's way when Billy in goal made a good save only for the ball to go in off the post. A couple of efforts from Bradley Harris going close for Frinton but Sudbury got their second goal and held on to this for a 2-0 win. We played extremely well considering they were up probably before sunrise.

All the lads looked very professional in their new kits sponsored by E S Scaffolding to (Dave Emmerson) and also their new boot bags that have been sponsored by Manda Gledhill.

Big thank you to you both - Colin.

Frinton & Walton Under 9's Blues 1 Stanway Villa Blues 5

Our first match for the season was a tough game against a very well organised team, we got off to a bad start being 2-0 down in the first two minutes, Josh Seward then made it 2-1 with a fine solo goal. Stanway then went up a gear and by halftime they were 4-1 up. Second half started like the first half with Stanway scoring their fifth goal early on, after this we steadied the ship going close on a few occasions but could not take our chances.

Frinton & Walton Under 9's Blues  4 Wivenhoe Youth Under 9’s Blues 4

Playing Wivenhoe for the first time this was a cracking end to end game Frinton took the lead through an own goal with good work from Josh Seward down the left, Wivenhoe then equalised before Josh and then Kieran Manning putting us up 3-1 at half-time. Wivenhoe then got a goal, 3-2, before Miles Sargent got his name on the score sheet. Time was running out and it looked like the points were ours but for two great strikes from distance made the final score 4-4 well played to both sides.
