The new season has begun and each team is entering
“THE FIELD OF DREAMS”
A dream where The Beautiful Game is enjoyed to the max!
So, this year my plea to parents is remember that dream.
Do not destroy it for any child by criticising or
putting them under too much pressure to do well. Do not
live YOUR dream through your child. Leave them to find
them. Once they cross that white line it is THEM and
their team mates!
Allow them to make mistakes – that is how we learn isn’t
it?
Let them express they – do not shout and bawl if a
defender decides to try and take on the whole of the
opposition inside his own half. Applaud his courage and
skill.
This year we are adopting The FA’s Respect campaign as a
club along with the league. I urge you all to try to
watch the videos on these pages and comply with
everything that you are asked to do on a match day.
If we all do this then we will have a very enjoyable
and, successful 2009-10 season!

"Boot Box"
Every Sunday there will be a
"boot box" at the games at Tendring Technology College.
Please bring along any old / unwanted boots, shin pads,
goalies gloves etc - these will be made available to buy
for a small sum, helping out those who need kit and also
raising a few pennies for the Club. |

The FA RESPECT Campaign
Respect is The
FA’s programme to address unacceptable behaviour in
football – on and off the pitch.
On average, 7,000 referees quit football every year at
because of the abuse they receive from players and from
the sidelines. Lots of children also pack it in because
of the attitude and actions of over-enthusiastic and
pushy parents.
In response, The FA’s Respect programme provides a
series of tools for leagues, clubs, coaches, Referees,
players and parents from grassroots to elite football to
ensure a safe, positive environment in which to enjoy
the game.
These tools include agreed codes of conduct, in-service
training for Referees, Respect club packs, spectator
sideline barriers funded by the Football Foundation and
ensuring captains work with referees to manage player
behaviour.
The FA has also launched a free online Respect Parent
Guide to highlight examples of poor behaviour and, more
importantly, how it can be improved. To see the Guide
for Parents and carers

Under 16's Award Success The Chairman and Vice
Chairman attended the League AGM on the 29th June and
were proud to receive the Sportsmanship Trophy on behalf
of the Under 16's. This following their award of
Tendring's Sporting Team of the Year last season.
|
|
The Under
16's are proud to
receive the
award.
Youth
football is about participation and
enjoyment for all - something that we as a
club actively encourage. Credit in no small
part should be given to manager Chris Byland
for his tireless effort as well as
encouragement of his players.
All at the
club congratulate Chris and his team on
their success.

try we will be starting up training for children on
associate terms (i.e. not playing league matches) in a

Annual General Meeting.
The
club's AGM took place on 17th June 2009 at the
Frinton Campus of Tendring Technology College, Rochford
Way, Frinton.
The
meeting was well attended and reports from all outgoing
officers of the club were heartening as it has been a
good season enjoyed by players and spectators alike. The
anticipation is the club will continue to grow during
the coming season with a new girls section. This should take the
number of players to in excess of 200.
The committee was elected

FA Coaching courses
As a football club
responsible for coaching youngsters it is always of
paramount importance to us that those youngsters get the
right type of coaching by trained coaches.
For this reason we were glad
to take up the offer of four free places on a level 1
coaching course provided by the FA in association with
McDonalds. The cost to the club would otherwise have
been in the order of £400. In addition to advice
on coaching the participants also received training in
respect of child welfare and first aid. The offer was
made to the club because we are working towards FA Charter
Standard.
Congratulations to Paul
Perryman and Albert Wiles from the Under 10's and John
Lake and Tim Brownsdon from the Under 8's, all of whom
successfully completed the course which entailed two
full weekends in Upminster. This obviously represented a
large part of their own time and the club is truly
thankful to the commitment of the four gentlemen.
As part of McDonalds
participation in scheme our club also gets a significant
amount of equipment including footballs, bibs and other
coaching equipment. We calculate the total package has a
value to the club of close to £1,000.
Our thanks to McDonalds, the
FA and our four coaches for giving up their time so that
our children get an even better football experience. |

Merchandise
The club can provide crested
merchandise. The kids love it and the prices are very reasonable.
The icing on the cake is that profits go to your club rather
than a sports shop. Help support your club today.

Take a look at our
merchandise page for further details. |

FA Soccer Parent

As parents and
carers of children that play football we have an
important role to play. The FA recognises this and
through its online Soccer Parent course provides an
insight into how we should all behave. The link below
will take you to the relevant part of the FA website.
You do have to register with
FA Learning which is The FA's
Educational Provider to take the course but it is very
well designed and has been created with a great deal of
thought. The whole process should take you 30 - 45
minutes and at the end of it you will have a solid
understanding of your role and maybe a better
appreciation of what the coaches' objectives are. You
even get a certificate if you complete the course and
are successful in the test at the end. The course is
completely free.
Members of the Club's
committee have taken the course. I hope you will
not be surprised to hear they have all passed to date!
Please take a little of
your time to have a go - it should benefit all who do!

Child Welfare
This subject is obviously
paramount to us all at all times. Esther Beach as our
Child Welfare Officer, wrote to all of the club's
coaches to ensure they were aware of the FA's guidelines
regarding child welfare. The full letter as sent to our
coaches is copied below:-
To All Managers,
The Club has recently received
directive from the F.A regarding the Duty of Care we
have for the children we coach.
This addresses some basic child
welfare issues which must be adhered to during training
and matches.
- All players must be
appropriately attired;
-
Their clothing must
reflect the weather conditions.
-
Shin pads must be worn at
all times, even at indoor training.
- The duration of training must
be limited to 1 1/2 hours
- First Aid Kits must be taken
to every training session and all matches.
- All players must have/bring
with them a drink at every training session and at
all matches.
- The Manager's and Club
Secretary's records must be kept up-to-date, with
relevant phone numbers (home and mobile), especially
if parents do not stay with their children, in case
an injury or inclement weather forces training to be
abandoned.
- Managers must stay with their
group until the last child leaves or is collected.
This applies to both training and matches.
- Constant criticism causes
distress and anxiety; encourage and praise all
players at every opportunity.
- Please ensure that training
methods are appropriate for the development of each
age group.
- Managers to coach the players
rather than participate in the training sessions.
As the Club heads towards the
Charter Standard, we could have spot checks from F.A
Officials at training sessions and matches.
The FA's vision for the future is
to focus on child development and encourage their social
skills. We must all promote the enjoyment of football
and make sure that it is fun for everyone.
Yours in Sport
Esther Beach
Child Welfare Officer
