Under 15's Award Success
We are proud to
announce that our
under 15's have won Tendring's
Sporting Team Of The Year.
Their
commitment to the side has brought with it a great
team spirit and a hard working attitude. Five
players were on hand to receive
the award from Tendring Youth Council at the
Princess Theatre, including Captain Bond and senior
players Cannon and Brooks who said "Being in a team
is about working together and having fun with your
mates."
|
|
The Under
15's are proud to
receive the
award and are currently looking forward to
next season's
challenges.
Youth
football is about participation and
enjoyment for all - something that we as a
club actively encourage. Credit in no small
part should be given to manager Chris Byland
for his tireless effort as well as
encouragement of his players.
All at the
club congratulate Chris and his team on
their success.

How about helping to run
FWYFC?
After many years loyal and
rewarding service our Secretary, Sam Slade and Fixture
Secretary, Chris Allen have announced their intentions
to retire from the committee of FWYFC at the end of this
season.
The Club is therefore
actively seeking their replacements in readiness for
next season. This will also give time to help with hand
over. In the interests of child safety the successful
candidate will have to be subject to a full CRB check.
Should either position
interest you please contact either Sam, Chris, the
Chairman (Darren Doyle), or Vice Chairman (Mark Rowson)
for further information.

New crop of players
required for new Mini Soccer squads
Now the current season is up
and running FWYFC is already starting work on developing
squads of players for what will be the under 9's and
under 8's next season.
If there are boys or girls
aged either 6 or 7 at the start of the current school
year (current school years 1 &2) wanting to give organised football and training a
try we will be starting up training for children on
associate terms (i.e. not playing league matches) in a
few weeks time.
Please contact the
Chairman, Vice Chairman or
Secretary for further information.

Colchester United vs West Brom 20th October 2007
The Under 12 Reds duly turned up at Fortress Layer
Road (a.k.a. The Layer Drome) on Saturday (20th Oct)
for their date with destiny. After a bit of hanging
around they found their way in and took over one
corner of the Family enclosure, where they patiently
sat, watching the players warm up in front of them.
A little while before kick off they were asked to
come onto the pitch and had their photo taken with
some sponsors and then formed a guard of honour as
the players took to the pitch to the strains of "The
Post Horn Gallop" before the game.
They witnessed a great performance from the U’s who,
after falling behind in the first five minutes, went
on to record a 3-2 win against one of the promotion
favorites for this season with goals coming from
Kevin Lisbie and Mark Yeates with an unstoppable
free kick and a penalty.
Unfortunately the boys didn't get to meet any of the
players or get to have a kick around at half-time
due to the "importance" of the game (aren't they all
?).
A good day out was had by all (we hope !) with a
great game of football to watch and an excellent
result (for anyone who cares about the fortunes of
CUFC anyway). Our thanks to Chris Firminger and to
Colchester United for the day.

Under 10's coach required for season 2008/09
Are you interested in
coaching youth football?
The current under 9's
manager wishes to coach next year's under 9's as his son
will be in that age group. Consequently FWYFC is looking
for a new under 10's manager for next season.
It is probable the
successful candidate will help coach this year's under
9's ready to take them on next season.
The successful candidate
will be subject to full CRB checks and will be supported
in pursuing FA coaching qualifications should he not
already hold at least the level 1 certificate or its
equivalent.
Please contact the Chairman,
Vice Chairman or Secretary for further information.

Welcome back Paul Lawrie
We are delighted to announce
the return of Paul Lawrie to the Club. Following the
unexpected departure of Alan Cross we needed to find a
replacement that could quickly settle in and provide the
Under 16 squad with the stability they need.
The Committee feels it could
have done no better than get Paul to step into the
breach. Paul is an excellent club man with many years
service both as a manager and committee member; serving
as both a secretary and chairman at different times.
Paul has done this to help the Club and most importantly
the players to ensure there is an under 16's squad this
year..
Thank you Paul on behalf of
the players, parents and officials of FWYFC.

Annual General Meeting.
The
club's AGM took place on 13th June 2007 at the
Frinton Campus of Tendring Technology College, Rochford
Way, Frinton.
The meeting
was well attended and reports from all outgoing officers
of the club were heartening as it has been a good season
enjoyed by players and spectators alike. The
anticipation is the club will continue to grow during
the coming season with a new under 16 section and there
now being two under 11 squads. This should take the
number of players to in excess of 150.
The
meeting passed all of the proposed rule, policy and
codes of conduct changes as well as the new football
development plan. This now stands the club in good stead
to press on towards its FA Charter Standard application.
The committee was elected
for the coming season and is listed below:

match reports etc..
Our thanks to both Ian (outgoing press officer) and Kim
Greenaway (outgoing treasurer) for their service to the
club during their respective times on the committee.
Thank you to all attendees

It is with regret that we
have to report Scott and Gavin will not be standing for the
position of coaches with the club for the 2007/08 season. On
behalf of the players, parents/carers and officials of this
club we would like to extend our thanks to both gentlemen
for their efforts over the years.
Ian Lock and Rob Smith have
kindly stepped forward to manage the Under 13's and Under
14's respectively. Many thanks to both of those gentlemen
also as without managers we don't have a team for the
children to play in. |

Under 15's League Cup
Final

Frinton and
Walton Youth FC met
AFC Cornard Dynamoes in the Under 15's League Cup final on Saturday
the 19th May. The game started off on a high
tempo with Frinton having better breaks and movement on the
ball. At half time the score was 0-0 with Frinton having an
average 4-1 attempts at goal.
In the
second half both teams came out with everything to play for
with a superb try at goal by Cornard being saved on the line
by Frinton's Josh Sarson who sustained a slight injury in
the process, the ball was then kicked up field and a one on
one ensued between Frinton's Sam Cross and the Cornard
keeper which was saved. Jake Bishop and Jake Bettany had an
outstanding game in midfield giving service to Greg Lawrie
up front. At times our defence with Glen Barnard and Glen
Dobbs was outstanding keeping Cornard quiet but
unfortunately we conceded a penalty in the last few minutes
of play, Frinton keeper George Anderson stood tall and proud
against Cornards penalty taker which they converted. Frinton
never gave up and played the few minutes left as if the
score was still 0-0.
I am proud
to say the next day we played Long Melford in the league
winning 3-1 to give us runners up in the A Division.
The manager Alan Cross,
the parents/carers, and all of the Club are very proud of what the boys have achieved
this season. The honours this year for Frinton and Walton
Youth FC Under 15's have been:
Runners up
in the A Division
Finalists
in the League Cup
Semi-Finalists in the Open Cup
Well
done once again!

FA Coaching courses
As a football club
responsible for coaching youngsters it is always of
paramount importance to us that those youngsters get the
right type of coaching by trained coaches.
For this reason we were glad
to take up the offer of four free places on a level 1
coaching course provided by the FA in association with
McDonalds. The cost to the club would otherwise have
been in the order of £400. In addition to advice
on coaching the participants also received training in
respect of child welfare and first aid. The offer was
made to the club because we are working towards FA Charter
Standard.
Congratulations to Paul
Perryman and Albert Wiles from the Under 10's and John
Lake and Tim Brownsdon from the Under 8's, all of whom
successfully completed the course which entailed two
full weekends in Upminster. This obviously represented a
large part of their own time and the club is truly
thankful to the commitment of the four gentlemen.
As part of McDonalds
participation in scheme our club also gets a significant
amount of equipment including footballs, bibs and other
coaching equipment. We calculate the total package has a
value to the club of close to £1,000.
Our thanks to McDonalds, the
FA and our four coaches for giving up their time so that
our children get an even better football experience. |
|
Merchandise
The club can provide crested
merchandise. The kids love it and the prices are very reasonable.
The icing on the cake is that profits go to your club rather
than a sports shop. Help support your club today.

Take a look at our
merchandise page for further details. |

FA Soccer Parent

As parents and
carers of children that play football we have an
important role to play. The FA recognises this and
through its online Soccer Parent course provides an
insight into how we should all behave. The link below
will take you to the relevant part of the FA website.
You do have to register with
FA Learning which is The FA's
Educational Provider to take the course but it is very
well designed and has been created with a great deal of
thought. The whole process should take you 30 - 45
minutes and at the end of it you will have a solid
understanding of your role and maybe a better
appreciation of what the coaches' objectives are. You
even get a certificate if you complete the course and
are successful in the test at the end. The course is
completely free.
Members of the Club's
committee have taken the course. I hope you will
not be surprised to hear they have all passed to date!
Please take a little of
your time to have a go - it should benefit all who do!

Child Welfare
This subject is obviously
paramount to us all at all times. Esther Beach as our
Child Welfare Officer, wrote to all of the club's
coaches to ensure they were aware of the FA's guidelines
regarding child welfare. The full letter as sent to our
coaches is copied below:-
To All Managers,
The Club has recently received
directive from the F.A regarding the Duty of Care we
have for the children we coach.
This addresses some basic child
welfare issues which must be adhered to during training
and matches.
- All players must be
appropriately attired;
-
Their clothing must
reflect the weather conditions.
-
Shin pads must be worn at
all times, even at indoor training.
- The duration of training must
be limited to 1 1/2 hours
- First Aid Kits must be taken
to every training session and all matches.
- All players must have/bring
with them a drink at every training session and at
all matches.
- The Manager's and Club
Secretary's records must be kept up-to-date, with
relevant phone numbers (home and mobile), especially
if parents do not stay with their children, in case
an injury or inclement weather forces training to be
abandoned.
- Managers must stay with their
group until the last child leaves or is collected.
This applies to both training and matches.
- Constant criticism causes
distress and anxiety; encourage and praise all
players at every opportunity.
- Please ensure that training
methods are appropriate for the development of each
age group.
- Managers to coach the players
rather than participate in the training sessions.
As the Club heads towards the
Charter Standard, we could have spot checks from F.A
Officials at training sessions and matches.
The FA's vision for the future is
to focus on child development and encourage their social
skills. We must all promote the enjoyment of football
and make sure that it is fun for everyone.
Yours in Sport
Esther Beach
Child Welfare Officer
