Parent Helpers / Reps

All our teams and managers need a little help from the parents. If you can spare a little time to help out with training, on a match day or simply by being a point of contact for the Club and passing information on to other parents, it would be greatly appreciated. The managers of the teams have plenty on their plates as it is and any help that can be given will make their lives that bit easier. Please let your managers know if you would like to help, as all the work that goes into running the club, managing teams, organising events and raising funds is currently being carried out by just a few people.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions for season 2010 – 2011 have been frozen at 2009-2010 prices. This means that for just £100.00 for the season your child can be part of the club and includes their kits, training and presentations. Payments will be as in previous seasons – minimum £65.00 at the time of registration and a post dated cheque for the balance dated January 1st. Players will not be registered and therefore unable to play until the club has received the 1st payment. There will be reductions for those families who have 2 or more children in the club.

Golf Day 2010 - Friday 21st May 2010 at Frinton Golf Club

The Golf Day was even more of a success this year than it usually is. Thanks to the organization by Ian Lock & Colin Martin the day managed to raise a whopping £1,618.00 for the club! Thanks to all those that were able to turn up and make a fantastic day of it for all concerned and Congratulations to all the winners. Pictures to follow.

The new season has begun and each team is entering

“THE FIELD OF DREAMS”

A dream where The Beautiful Game is enjoyed to the max!
So, this year my plea to parents is remember that dream. Do not destroy it for any child by criticising or putting them under too much pressure to do well. Do not live YOUR dream through your child. Leave them to find them. Once they cross that white line it is THEM and their team mates!

Allow them to make mistakes – that is how we learn isn’t it?

Let them express they – do not shout and bawl if a defender decides to try and take on the whole of the opposition inside his own half. Applaud his courage and skill.

This year we are adopting The FA’s Respect campaign as a club along with the league. I urge you all to try to watch the videos on these pages and comply with everything that you are asked to do on a match day.

If we all do this then we will have a very enjoyable and, successful 2009-10 season!

"Boot Box"

Every Sunday there will be a "boot box" at the games at Tendring Technology College. Please bring along any old / unwanted boots, shin pads, goalies gloves etc - these will be made available to buy for a small sum, helping out those who need kit and also raising a few pennies for the Club.

The FA RESPECT Campaign

Respect is The FA’s programme to address unacceptable behaviour in football – on and off the pitch.

On average, 7,000 referees quit football every year at because of the abuse they receive from players and from the sidelines. Lots of children also pack it in because of the attitude and actions of over-enthusiastic and pushy parents.

In response, The FA’s Respect programme provides a series of tools for leagues, clubs, coaches, Referees, players and parents from grassroots to elite football to ensure a safe, positive environment in which to enjoy the game.

These tools include agreed codes of conduct, in-service training for Referees, Respect club packs, spectator sideline barriers funded by the Football Foundation and ensuring captains work with referees to manage player behaviour.

The FA has also launched a free online Respect Parent Guide to highlight examples of poor behaviour and, more importantly, how it can be improved. To see the Guide for Parents and carers click here

As a local football club we wanted to bring to your attention a website about our area. It has details of many of the clubs and businesses in Frinton and the surrounding area together with details of events. Please take a look - there's a link to the site below:

Club Sponsors

The club are pleased to announce having reached agreement with a number of new sponsors for the coming season. A big thank you to all our sponsors.

Please take a look at our club sponsors page for details of all our sponsors including names, contact details and links to their websites.

Merchandise

The club can provide crested merchandise. The kids love it and the prices are very reasonable. The icing on the cake is that profits go to your club rather than a sports shop. Help support your club today.

Take a look at our merchandise page for further details.

FA Soccer Parent

As parents and carers of children that play football we have an important role to play. The FA recognises this and through its online Soccer Parent course provides an insight into how we should all behave. The link below will take you to the relevant part of the FA website. You do have to register with FA Learning which is The FA's Educational Provider to take the course but it is very well designed and has been created with a great deal of thought. The whole process should take you 30 - 45 minutes and at the end of it you will have a solid understanding of your role and maybe a better appreciation of what the coaches' objectives are. You even get a certificate if you complete the course and are successful in the test at the end. The course is completely free.

Members of the Club's committee  have taken the course. I hope you will not be surprised to hear they have all passed to date!

Please take a little of your time to have a go - it should benefit all who do!

Child Welfare

This subject is obviously paramount to us all at all times. Esther Beach as our Child Welfare Officer, wrote to all of the club's coaches to ensure they were aware of the FA's guidelines regarding child welfare. The full letter as sent to our coaches is copied below:-

To All Managers,

The Club has recently received directive from the F.A regarding the Duty of Care we have for the children we coach.

This addresses some basic child welfare issues which must be adhered to during training and matches.

  • All players must be appropriately attired;
    •  Their clothing must reflect the weather conditions.
    • Shin pads must be worn at all times, even at indoor training.
  • The duration of training must be limited to 1 1/2 hours
  • First Aid Kits must be taken to every training session and all matches.
  • All players must have/bring with them a drink at every training session and at all matches.
  • The Manager's and Club Secretary's records must be kept up-to-date, with relevant phone numbers (home and mobile), especially if parents do not stay with their children,  in case an injury or inclement weather forces training to be abandoned.
  • Managers must stay with their group until the last child leaves or is collected. This applies to both training and matches.
  • Constant criticism causes distress and anxiety; encourage and praise all players at every opportunity.
  • Please ensure that training methods are appropriate for the development of each age group.
  • Managers to coach the players rather than participate in the training sessions.

As the Club heads towards the Charter Standard, we could have spot checks from F.A Officials at training sessions and matches.

The FA's vision for the future is to focus on child development and encourage their social skills. We must all promote the enjoyment of football and make sure that it is fun for everyone.

Yours in Sport
